My little musicians

Maya and Ava love to play the piano. Ava is usually the one who crawls up there first and starts singing really loud, mostly just yelling. Maya is more like the back up pianist.
It is a concert everyday.

Kids Spree

In July, some friends invited us to go to a free event that is in Denver every year called the Kids Spree. They have a lot of stuff set up for kids, everything from concerts, to games, to crafts, to jumping castles. It was really hot but the girls still had a lot of fun.

Maya jumping from circle to circle, playing a life size chutes and ladders game.

Ava just went down the slides.

This is a video of Ava and her friends Avery, Jordan and Lauren. The kids were invited on the stage to help sing and dance. Maya was the only one who did not want to go on stage. Ava was dancing away. She is the one on the left of the stage above the "K" in the yellow skirt. After the song was over all the kids got off of the stage and Ava threw a fit because she wanted to stay up there and dance.

4th of July

We decided to go back to Estes Park for the 4th of July. Sarah, Justin, Grandma, and Gram were still up there from the reunion and we decided to go and spend some more time with them. Matt and Justin climbed up Longs Peak on Friday the 4th, while Sarah and I had a girls day of lunch and shopping. Maya and Ava got to play with Grandma, Gram, Great Aunt Judy, and Shirley. The girls enjoyed climbing all over the rocks and blowing lots of bubbles. They also really enjoyed watching the fireworks. Ava kept yelling "Look!" every time a big one went off. It was another really good weekend.

The girls thought that their nets were actually hats.
Maya was concentrating really hard to blow the best bubbles.

Fun on the Alpine Slide

Today Matt's work had their employee picnic. They had it at a Heritage Square which is a place that has carnival like rides for little kids and a large alpine slide. We ate our lunch and hiked up the chair lift that took us to the top of the hill of the slide. Matt went with Maya and I went with Ava. I was a little skeptical not knowing what to expect. Ava and I went down with me being a little cautious. Ava did not make a peep. When we got off Maya was yelling how much fun she had and was saying lets do it again. Ava was soon to chime in. We bought more tickets and went for round two. The second time I went with Maya and she wanted to go fast. I agreed and we started off really fast, with the pedal to the metal so to say. The first big turn I felt like we were going to fly out of the track, so I decided to slow down a little and Maya was just screaming in fun the entire time. It was pretty fun, we all enjoyed it.

Later we went over to the other rides and we rode a roller coaster and some other spinning rides. The girls loved it and were completely fearless.

Family Reunion in Estes Park

The last weekend of June was the Arnold (Bachman side of the family) family reunion. We were headed up to Estes Park for a weekend of hiking, playing games like horseshoes, badminton, and horseshoe golf. We also just hung out with family.
Matt and Ava at Alberta Falls. The water was the highest we had ever seen. The hike is always a favorite for the kids.

Maya was so excited that we found a stick that looked like a Y. We decided to try and find sticks to make her name. She is all about spelling and writing her name.

1st Time Camping

The weekend after Ava's B-day we had planned a trip to go camping at Lake McConaughy. We had a lot of fun and the girls did great sleeping in the tent and had a ton of fun playing in the sand and the water. The worst part of the trip were the biting flies which caused a meltdown by the girls and in turn by Matt. The best part was getting to hang out with our friends that we don't get to see very often, the Flecks. We all can't wait to go back.

T.J, Jayla, Joy, andReese enjoying the fire. My favorite part of camping.

Ava taking a nap on the floaty. She was having a really hard time staying awake.

G-pa and G-ma Alexander came up to visit and Papa was taking Ava for a ride in her wagon in the water.

I think we were at the lake for a total of 5 minutes and Ava was soaking wet and covered in sand.

Ava turns 2.

Ava's birthday (June 15th) was the next exciting event of the summer. We had a few friends over for the big day and celebrated Ava's birthday and fathers day on the same day. It was a good day for both.

Ava was so excited for cake. Anytime anyone would ask her what she wanted for her birthday, she would say "cake".

Compliment from loving eyes.

Today I had to go to a baby shower and got all dressed up in a dress with jewlery. Maya got very excited right away when she saw me and said how much she liked my dress and my necklace. Ava was still taking a nap and came downstairs rubbing her eyes and looked at me and said "You yook beautiful mama." It was so cute and made me smile. I gave her a big hug and told her thank you.

Broken Arm

The last night that we were in Durango, Maya fell off of the bed and broke her arm. So she spent the next 4 weeks in a beautiful pink cast.

Maya got to run through the fountains because her cast was waterproof. We did get some really strange looks though.

Taking the blogging plunge!

Well, I have decided to start a blog. I am trying to find an easy way to keep everyone up to date with what is going on in our lives. The girls are growing up so fast and have so many cute moments that I want to share with everyone else. So here it goes.

Well I suppose I will start at the beginning of the summer. Our summer really began with a trip to Durango CO, over Memorial Day weekend. Matt and a friend of his were riding in a bike race down there and the girls and I along with his wife and kids headed off for a family vacation. The weather was not cooperative at all and it started to snow a lot. The bike race got cancelled but we still had a good time and the girls enjoyed playing in the snow.

The girls loved watching the steam engine come into to town. It is crazy how close you can get to it.

We all went for a snowy hike. The girls enjoyed jumping in all of the wet snow puddles. The view was still very pretty.

This is Maya throwing snow-balls on the deck of our condo.
That was our trip in short to Durango.
